Guided Reading Within the classroom, the ELA teachers are learning and working with students to incorporate a Guided Reading Model. This just means for a half hour each day (sometimes more; sometimes less) we pull students to a small group to read together on an appropriate level text to build reading skills. We focus on the NEED in the group. During whole group, we are using read aloud as the basis along with shared reading, interactive edit, and word study to build skills and comprehension. Writing stems from each piece. Students should be using what they learn and apply it to their SSR/ chapter book. This is somewhat new and we are all working very hard to help each and every student.
